The following table of protein, oil and a sum of protein plus oil shows some yearly variation, however, no major trends. Yearly average protein values fall between 34-36%; oil between 17.5-19.5%; and total protein plus oil between 53-55%. As one can see from the map of the US there are some small regional trends, however, these values are small compared to the variability of the crop within a state. Soybean varieties with significantly better than average levels of protein and oil are available.
