An article in Feedstuffs summarized several of the most common experimental techniques used to assess the biological availability of phosphorus from inorganic feed phosphates and commonly used feed ingredients. Phosphorus availability values for various feed ingredients were provided in the review. The availability of phosphorus in dehulled soybean meal and 44 percent protein soybean meal were listed as 25 and 35 percent, respectively. The author indicated that phosphorus available in the soybean hull might account for the difference in the two soybean meals. Over 80 references were cited in this review article.
