Soybean Hulls: Composition and Feed Value for Beef and Dairy.

Research and Extension Staff in the Animal Sciences and Industry Department at Kansas State University have recently published a brochure entitled “Soybean Hulls: Composition and Feeding Value for Beef and Dairy Cattle”. The 16-page publication contains information on the processing, nutrient composition and feeding management of soybean hulls. Nearly forty technical publications provide the basis of the discussion on factors affecting the nutritional value of soybean hulls; soybean hulls for beef cattle grazing forage; using soybean hulls as an energy source for growing and finishing cattle; and the value of soybean hulls in diets for dairy cows. If readily accessible and priced competitively with other feed ingredients, soybean hulls can provide an alternative source of protein and energy for ruminants.
