Soybean Meal Utilization By Hybrid Sturgeon

A digestibility study was conducted with adult hybrid sturgeon fed an experimental diet containing 50 percent test ingredient and 50 percent reference diet. The results indicated the digestibility of the protein from the three test proteins was: fishmeal, 81.0%; soybean meal, 81.9% and poultry meal, 64.6%. Energy digestibility results were as follows: fishmeal, 13.0 kJ/g; soybean meal, 12.1 kJ/g; and poultry meal, 10.2 kJ/g. These results indicate that fishmeal and soybean meal are comparable in protein and energy digestibility in adult hybrid sturgeon.
