Soybean Meal-Rabbits
Two hundred and forty rabbits weaned at 35 or 45 days were used to measure dry matter and crude protein digestibility. Another 180 rabbits were fed ad libitum in individual cases for four weeks to determine growth performance. Results indicated that the source of protein did not affect digestibility or feed conversion, however the rabbits fed the soybean meal had higher feed intake, grew faster and had higher mortality than those fed the sunflower meal diets. Enzymes (protease and xylanase) increase apparent ileal digestibility, but did not affect any of the growth traits studied.
