Variation
in the digestibility of amino acids in soybean meal from a single processing
plant.
Researchers collected soybean meal samples from a single soybean processor
at four dates, 15 days apart, to determine the variability in the digestibility
of amino acids. Cannulated pigs were used in the digestion study. Results
indicated that the differences in digestibilities of nutrients and amino
acids for the soybean meal collected on different dates were variable
and small in magnitude. The researchers concluded that the variation
in nutrient digestibility in samples collected from a soybean processing
facility over a 45-day period was not a major source of variability
in the nutritional value of soybean meal.
