Roasted Full-fat Soybean for Turkeys

Canadian researchers conducted a study to examine the growth performance and carcass composition of broiler turkeys fed graded levels of roasted full-fat soybeans processed by flame roasting. Results indicated that at 21 days of age the turkeys fed the starter diet with roasted soybeans ate more feed and were heavier than the birds fed the soybean meal control diet. Feed consumption and feed utilization were not affected by the ratio of roasted soybeans to soybean meal. These results indicate that heat-processed soybeans may replace soybean meal in turkey diets.
