Phytase Studies-Swine The researchers also investigated the effects of phytase and aluminum
chloride on ammonia losses from swine operations. They showed that phytase
and aluminum chloride significantly (P<0.05) reduced manure pH and
ammonia losses. When the manure from phytase-fed pigs was treated with
0.75% (v/v), the relative ammonia losses were reduced by 60% compared
to the control diets without aluminum chloride. They concluded that
the reduced manure pH was probably responsible for the reduced ammonia
losses; and that dietary manipulation with phytase and manure treatment
with aluminum chloride are promising management practices for the reduction
of ammonia from swine facilities. |
