In another study, 0.9 kg salmon were fed a fish meal diet or a diet in which soybean meat replaced 15 percent of the fish meal crude protein. No significant differences in growth were seen between the fish meal or soybean-meal-containing diets. However, 60 percent of the fish examined that were fed soybean meal had soybean meal induced changes in the mucosa of the posterior intestine. Additional research is needed to determine causes and the practical significance of these induced changes. Storebakken, T. and co-workers. 2000.
