Effects of supplemental phytase on ileal digestibility of amino acids, calcium and phosphorus in dehulled soybean meal for growing pigs. Ileally cannulated pigs were used to assess the effects
of four diet levels of microbial phytase on the apparent and true digestibility
of phosphorus, calcium, crude protein and amino acids in dehulled soybean
meal. The semi-purified test diet contained soybean meal as the sole
source of amino acids. The results indicated that the microbial phytase
source improved the digestibility of calcium and phosphorus but did
not consistently improve the digestibility of the amino acids in soybean
meal. Apparent and true ileal digestibility of crude protein and amino
acids increased slightly with the 500 units of phytase per kg of diet,
but no effect was observed when the 1,000 or 1,500 units were included
in the diet. |
